The American Association of Private International Law is an entity that has the following objectives:

    1. To reaffirm the need of including Private International Law as a mandatory (or core) subject in regular courses at Law Schools and to strengthen the teaching of the aforesaid subject in postgraduate courses;
    2. To promote studies and research aimed towards the development of the discipline;
    3. To promote joint studies with other branches of the Law, particularly with Public International Law, Integration Law and Communitarian Law;
    4. To exchange experiences regarding Private International Law, particularly in connection with the teaching of the subject;
    5. To  encourage the exchange of information regarding Private International Law of every State in the region, including the law in force, the draft law rules and amendments, case law and doctrine;
    6. To settle a Documentation and Information Center regarding Private International Law.
    7. To cooperate with the Organization of American States regarding Inter American draft rules on the subject, as well as with other instances and universal, regional, sub regional and national institutions, both public and private, in charge of the drafting and development of Private International Law.
    8. Diffuse the labor of international organizations in Private International Law matters.
